Review of Sylphie is Resilient

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Sylphie is Resilient" by La Kayshal.]
I always find myself reminiscing about the children's books I used to read, the ones that got me into reading in the first place and the ones my mom would read to me, so when I saw the opportunity to read Sylphie is Resilient by La Kayshal, I knew I had to give it a go, if only for the chance to be reminded of the innocence and magic that children's books hold. Before I jump into my review, I'd like to provide my rating, which is 5 out of 5 stars.
The book is about little Sylphie, who can see what she likes to call fairies all the time. One day, she tells her parents what she can see, and her mom lovingly explains to her that those are not fairies but Sylphs and that Sylphie is one of them as well. Excited and boundlessly happy, she waits and waits for her wings to come in, and on the morning of her seventh birthday, they finally do! The question remains, will Sylphie conquer her wings and learn to fly? Or will she give up because the current pain of learning is not worth the long-term fun?
I adored this book. I applaud the author for weaving together a tale that captures the hearts and minds of children and adults alike. I was glued to my seat while I read, enchanted by the author's ability to create a world of magic and wonder still tied to our reality. The characters are very lovable, and you may find yourself rooting for Sylphie the way I was. The plot of the story was very well executed as well. I enjoyed seeing how the author portrayed and communicated the lesson of resilience.
The illustrations throughout the book were beautiful. I found myself taking a full minute to just admire the art and skill on each page before turning to the next. The illustrations also perfectly depict what is happening on the page, which helps to form a deeper connection with Sylphie and her story. The story is also relatively short and does not take long to get through, which I think is perfect for holding a child's attention.
The book is incredibly well-edited. I came upon no errors while reading.
There is nothing I would change about this beautiful and heartwarming story. I also have no negatives about it. The reasons above are why I have rated the book the way I have. I recommend it to parents who want to teach their children about the beauty of resilience while also being reminded of it themselves. The magical whimsy, beautiful illustrations, and loving characters are all a wonderful bonus to the overall message of this book.
