Review of Kitties and Paris Delights
Who doesn’t like kittens? Especially adorable kittens who are wearing little backpacks and have cute expressions on their faces. Join Willie, Ayla, Skunk, and Alto in their adventures in Paris in Kitties and Paris Delights by Dr. Rachel J.C. Fu. The author has her kittens take the reader to a few of Paris’ popular attractions in this children’s book. Don’t forget the sweet Parisian treats!
I liked a couple of things about the book Kitties and Paris Delights. One was the use of rhymes about the Paris attractions. I also liked the messages about traveling safely. Young children will enjoy the cute kittens and their adventures.
However, there are a few things I did not like about the book. First, the stories are repetitive. The author mentions one attraction at the beginning and again in the middle. As the author does this several times, the story is repeating itself. It’s as if the author wrote two shorter books and couldn’t decide between them, so they were added together to make one book. Second, the pictures are all in different styles. Some are cartoon-like, some look like real kittens, and others have drawings of kittens superimposed on real photos. Since they are so different, the author apparently copied the pictures from somewhere else and pasted them into the book. Third, the kittens have different markings in most pictures, so it’s hard to tell which kitten is which. In one of the pictures, a white kitten is wearing a backpack with Skunk on it, while the real Skunk is white and black. The last thing I did not like is that every page has rhyming sentences except two, which disturbs the flow of words on those pages.
Overall, I am not a fan of Dr. Rachel J.C. Fu's book Kitties and Paris Delights. I regrettably must give it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book to parents of young children, as they may enjoy the colorful pictures.
