Talon by Donald Harris is a historical fictional novel about the protagonist, Talon, a warrior beloved by his people in the Seneca Tribe. He defied the law by rescuing Tanuli, a pregnant woman banished because she was pregnant without a husband. She later sought revenge on the man who impregnated her. Talon began a journey to take Tanuli to the peaceful Natchez people but encountered the Choctaw, who initially treated them well. However, they eventually encountered an impending danger.

Their journey continued without a foreseeable destination. They faced many troubling times. One of those times was when they came to a place where the dogs, infested with deer ticks, posed a danger of infestation. Also, while they were in the river, hundreds of snakes were littered around, biting each other. Amidst these dangers, did they succeed? What was their fate? Did they reach their destination? Readers will find answers in the book.

Donald provided a compelling narrative throughout the book. The book conveyed complex ideas in a simple form. The writing style is simple, making every expression in the book easy to understand. The narration progresses, leading the readers from a simple introduction to a communal intricacy. I like the author’s writing style. The arrangement of stories is a positive aspect of the book. The editing is flawless.

There are no negative aspects to the book. I did not dislike the book. Though the book does not have as much action as expected from a fictional story about a warrior, it did not lose its savor, as I still enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed it the most if I encountered more communal war scenes. I rate the book Talon by Donald Harris 5 out of 5 stars. The reasons for my rating are above.

I recommend the book to lovers of good fictional books. If you like stories with communal settings, Talon by Donald Harris is for you.
