Doesn't really sound like it's up my alley, but I have some friends that would probably enjoy it. Thanks for the review.

I like historical fiction, but I'm not sure if Asian history appeals to me. However,my major reason for passing on this would be because of the pace and the fact that he romantic aspect Embon's story wasn't fully explored. I'm afraid this might not capture my interest. Thanks for the detailed review, though.

Historical fiction do not usually appeal to me. However, the oppressive regime, a loveless marriage, an archaic cultural norm, poverty, riches, and royalty themes make the book seem quite interesting and intriguing. I'm also inclined to know more about Asia.

I'm not the biggest fan of historical fiction, but this one caught my attention since I know very little of Asian history. I also don't mind endings that aren't definitive - sometimes I actually prefer endings that leave the readers thinking. Thank you for the review.

This looks like an interesting historical fiction read. It's great to know that the story spans a period of nearly two decades. Lovers of this genre will surely enjoy reading it. Thanks.

I have always wanted to find out the relationship between the two Asian countries, Korea and Japan. Maybe this historical fiction will show me.

I'm not a fan of historical novels so I'll pass on this one. I'm sure Asian history is very interesting and many other readers will enjoy this book.

I think I'm one of the people interested in Asian history. A lot has been said about them, and I think this book gave a hint about them. I'll grab this book.

Historical fiction is not my cup of tea but I've read the review and the book sounds good in general describing the social and cultural life in Korea at the turn of the 20th century. I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!
