The cover looks familiar, like a Miss Saigon cover and the story seemed on the same route. It looked like a love story amidst war and the review mentioned enjoying the humour in the book, which i seldom feel and read for a while. Congrats!

The author's research on the Vietnam was well done. I also love the fact that each character was really developed. Good review.

Based on your review and recommendations, I would say this is not the book for me. I think your review summarized the book nicely and it's one that mature readers would enjoy more.

I find there are many interesting perspectives on the Vietnam War and I'm curious which direction this novel will take. It sounds like the characters are quite developed and complex at least. I don't mind unlikable characters with as long as they grow over the story, and if their personalities are engaging. Thanks for your detailed and honest review about what you liked and didn't like.

I read the sample and was intrigued. I think I would enjoy reading this book. After reading the review, I want to read it more. I could do without the explicit parts, but from the sample I read, it seems like a well-written novel.
Thank you for a great review. :D

A coming-of-age story about James, who goes to war, and Samantha, who is pregnant with someone else's child? I hope their love is strong enough during this Vietnam War related story! It's good to know that the characters are developed well, the dialogue is believable, and that there was never a dull moment. Learning about the Vietnam War does sound like a beneficial aspect of the novel. However, like you, I don't enjoy explicit sex scenes, so this might not be for me. Too bad about the errors you found here, but I'm glad that they were minor and they didn't disrupt the flow of the book. Glad you enjoyed this one and thanks for sharing!

This is historical romance and thriller set in the Vietnam War era. The author uses his own experiences in Vietnam to make the story authentic. I like that the characters are well-developed. Congratulations to the author for being chosen as BOTD. Thanks to the reviewer for your exciting review.

I like a good book with strong character development. A historical fiction that is based on the Vietnam War is surely interesting. However, the issue of abortion might not sit well with me. Thanks for the detailed review!

It sounds like the author accurately captured the time period of the Vietnam war in this story, especially in regards to the American government's refusal to acknowledge that a war was even occurring. I'm not into love stories (unless they're LGBT) but I can appreciate the research that went into portraying this time period realistically.

Thank you for the review. Although neither stories set in Vietnam nor those coming-of-age tales amid a war never truly caught my attention, I am sure those who do enjoy them will welcome such strong and well-developed characters.

I did not know that the Vietnam War was spoken about as "police action". Thanks for explaining the title. This historical fiction authored by someone with military experience would give it a reality and credibility about the war in Vietnam. It is too bad that there are explicit sex scenes and that James Coppi slept with Samantha Powers, a teenager, before deploying to Vietnam.

This seem interesting. I love it when authors enhance my knowledge on the things that happened before like the Vietnam war.

I generally like historical novels, but given the explicit nature of some of the scenes in this book, I’ll be skipping this one. I appreciate the candid review.
