The cartoonish cover on the front is what caught my attention first. While I usually don't consider historical fiction books, the numerous subplots, inclusion of real historical characters (such as Abraham Lincoln), and the grim reality of Native American conflict make me want to read this one. Thanks for the review!

I like the fact that this novel uses historical events in a fictional scenario. As far as I can tell the author has done thorough research on the Civil War as well. Congratulations on BOTD!

It is essential to acknowledge the history of the Dakota Sioux and other Native Americans who struggled and still do. This is a historical fiction piece that's still relevant today. Thank you for your review.

I am happy to see that the author addresses the impact of war on families as a whole. Between the Civil War and the Dakota Sioux War, Americans experienced suffering much of the time. Thank you for your informative review.

What I appreciate the author mostly for, is creatively weaving together real figures like President Jefferson and Chief Little Crow with fictional characters against the backdrop of significant events like the Dakota Sioux War.
