Thanks for the review !
I find the story really engaging which I can already tell after reading the description only. However, history and war genres are not my type.
Think outside of the books.

Books are usually better when the author knows the subject he is writing about, so the author’s experience in the Vietnam War (Police Action) adds to the believability of the story. Love and war often go hand in hand, so this is a solid premise for the novel. It refreshing that there was no gratuitous violence. Perhaps the author should have exercised the same restraint with the sex scenes. Thanks for the informative review.

I’m sure for historical fiction fans it is essential that there is enough factual information to instill authenticity to the characters and events. That being said, l respond strongly to the horrors of war and admit to being a “borderline pacifist”. Additionally, the explicit sexuality and the topic of abortion prevent me from being objective about this entry.
Thank you for your honest assessment of the book, and the caution for readers who maintain a different, but valid point of view.

I'm usually not keen on war novels, but this one sounds like it has a lot going for it: a well-rounded story plot intertwined with factual events, humor and romance. And I would love to find out more about the "Coke Conspiracy."

This would probably not be a book I would read. I like the fact that it is about the Vietnam war but the turnoff for me is the abortion issue mentioned.

Very inciteful review, thank you. Definitely sounds look a good story. A complicated romance, war and growth as a person. This book shows examples of how war can change both men and women. Would be nice to see the development of characters and how the story unfolds. Congratulations on BOTD.

Thanks for your well written review. I appreciatd warnings about the sex scenes and the abortion. Even though I enjoy historical fiction, because of these elements, I don't think this is one for me.

This is a wonderful and fascinating story. I would also have not liked the inclusion of the explicit sex scenes. The rest of the story line and the character development are intriguing. Thanks for the review.

I read the sample and just from that I saw the great detail the author took in describing different aspects of the war and of the culture of the military in general. As someone who served myself I think the author did an excellent job of this. I like how the book also focuses on a storyline outside of the war, while incorporated James service and war into the bigger storym thanks for the review.

Sound like a good book for adult audience that doesn't mind explicit sex and war theme. Not sure I could get into it.

In this book, Freda has put in a lot of care to describe even the smallest of details. The vivid descriptions of the battlefield make us feel that we are right there in the book, witnessing the horror unfold in front of our eyes.
