Skookum Yi, is a courageos and obedient warrior that I feel pity for having been disgraced and forced to flee his home.

I would love to know why Yi regards Hobson so much. More so, I love the backstory of Yi as a warrior, and I would like to know more. I look forward to reading this book. Detailed review.

Not much interested in history and culture of Japan and Korea additionally this book is not a easy read if we have to refer to glossary every now and then. I hope others do enjoy this book and collect all the information from this informative book.

I’m sure more will find it engaging & others appreciate the historical context but just not my cup of tea. One thing I noticed was the constant need of giving a description, just my opinion but heyyy if you enjoy historical fiction set against a backdrop of intrigue and cultural clashes, “The Abalone Ukulele” might still be worth exploring! 📚🌟

I appreciate the reviewer's honesty about the initial difficulty in engaging with the story, balanced with their eventual captivation. The unexpected twists and historical authenticity, highlighted in the Historical Notes, further intrigue me, solidifying my interest in delving into this meticulously crafted tale.

I like the plot and setting of this book. From this review, the characters seem interesting as well. The name is very native and inviting, letting the reader's curiosity wonder. I get how the read could be complex, but for the sake of the storyline, I'll give it a try.

I tried reading a few pages, and I must say that the author's difficult writing style didn't really resonate with me. You don't want to read this book quickly. I'm glad the author included a glossary of terms along with links. By the way, the review was interesting and enjoyable. :techie-studyingbrown:

The Abalone Ukulele by Roger Crossland is a historical fiction following three tons of Japanese gold ingots. It depicts the collision of four varied cultures: China, Korea, Japan, and the US. It sounds like an intriguing read for lovers of this genre. Congratulations on the BOTD!
