A historical fiction highlighting the injustices that African Americans faced. It will be interesting to read.

The issue of racism is so relevant even today. Stories like these give voice to the unheard and people who deal with this issue on daily basis. It seems that book nicely recounts the journey of Sister B who fought for African American rights.

A fascinating story about a young African American woman is nicely presented in the book "Sister B" by David Charles Hart. The woman is determined to make a better life for her family. The story looks inspirational to me.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I am not a big fan of historical fiction, but I like the idea of showing the parallels between how the African Americans and the Japanese were treated in the US during this time period.

An interesting integration of tales of discrimination. I understand Sister B's desire for a better life for herself and her son, a wish most parents have, but for some, "better" is not always easy to achieve.

It sounds like this book is a great way to highlight African American community contributions to society and to better understand the history surrounding that culture.

It's a fascinating historical fiction novel centred on Sister B who is an inspirational woman. She sacrificed so much to build a better world—a world free of racism and discrimination.

We need more books like this to create awareness about the plight of the victims of racial discrimination. We cannot choose to ignore the vices of the society by hiding behind the mask of modernity and advancement. Kudos to the writer for this book.

Thanks for your insightful review. I only intended to read a couple of pages of this novel to comment on then, but I found I could hardly put it down. So I guess that means it's pretty good, right?

I'm not only interested in the history of this black family in American but also in its Japanese roots, and I don't mind learning about how early Japanese immigrants were treated. Since being stationed in Japan for almost a decade with the Air Force, I've become enthralled with its interesting history, but English-language books about early Japanese immigrants seem woefully lacking.

I'm not a huge admirer of historical fiction, but I appreciate the notion of drawing comparisons between how African Americans and Japanese people were treated in the United States at the time. Thanks for the detailed review!

This might be a fine story, but it's not of any interest to me right now. The author does a good job of capturing the cadence and lyricism of local dialect, and the characters seem well-drawn, but it's just not my cup of tea. Nevertheless, congratulations to Mr. Hart on BOTD.

I am more fascinated by Akio and his pictures story, though I also find the main character's story also intriguing. It seems like all she does is work very hard inorder to facilitate har many travels to meet friends and family. Anyway, seems like an inspiring story. Thank you.

I feel that the book leans heavily on racial discrimination. It will have merit with a select audience, but I am not going to read this one. Thank you for an excellent review.
