The review exposes the underbelly of sports for children, especially in a small town. Amazingly this book develops into a very poignant story with lessons for all to be found as the story unfolds. Looking forward to reading the story about children trying to follow their parents into the world of sports when the dream and reality collide.

The book seems interesting. I think it's a nice book which could be turned into a movie in the future as these kind of stories and people are seen in real life. The review is also done very nicely which gives the readers a clear idea about the book.

This is a highly skillful story that aims to shine light on generational passing and teachings from one to another. I wonder if Arnold is able to successfully parent his own child while wrestling with his own past having an abusive father. The added sports backdrop adds to the storyline for any sports enthusiasts. Congrats on the BOTD!

I appreciate you sharing your thoughts about the book. It touches on a topic that concerns me - the fear of passing on my parents' unfulfilled expectations to my own children and putting undue pressure on them. This book seems to address that issue, and I find it valuable.

Really not my cup of tea, which is not surprising considering that sports most definitely don't hold immense significance to me personally or anyone in my circle. Adding child abuse guarantees that I will have to skip this book, but congratulations with BOTD, anyway!

Nice review. I love the father and son relationship between Arnold and Billy, and how Arnold didn't let his son experience all the trauma he received from his father. This book is so heartwarming and inspiring.

It is sad because in today's world, especially in America, some parents put undue pressure on their kids to be something they are not. I am glad this book was written to show readers what effects this has on kids, most notably in the sports area. Thanks for the review!

I found the review to be well-written and informative. It effectively captures the essence of the book "Billy Jones's Father And the Apple Tree" by Fred Engh, providing a glimpse into its themes and storytelling. The reviewer's analysis of the characters, tone, and editing quality adds depth to their evaluation. Overall, it appears to be a positive and thoughtful review, highlighting the book's strengths and recommending it to sports enthusiasts and aspiring coaches.

I appreciate how the author handled the toxicity surrounding some sports culture and that the young father tried to protect his child from that kind of hurt.

This is an inspiring story. It is always tough on children whose parents belittle them and see them as never going to be enough. I just can't help but wonder if Arnold will be able to get out of the physical and emotional trauma he experienced from his father and be a better father who is unlike his own to his son.

The book is interesting.it highlights the risks of steering children in directions that are better suited for the parents. Even something the child enjoys might feel like a burden in this scenario.thanks
