Circumstances of War by Robert John Gardner depicts the love, tenacity, and sacrifices of those affected by World War II. It secures a gripping story by fusing the lives of politicians, families, and soldiers in Illinois, Germany, and Burma.

I really do not mean to offend, but I steadily avoid everything that has anything to do with war. I am not sure if there ever was a time when not a single conflict was displayed in the news, but currently have more than enough war cruelty courtesy of events in Ukraine. Apologies, I prefer to pass, but still congrats on BOTD!

"Circumstances of War" by Robert John Gardner is a book that begins in two places, Springfield, Illinois, and Munich, Germany. Also in focus are the Gordon twins and the Gittelsohn brothers. I like how personal struggles but also triumphs are described in the book.

Mo's love for Janey and Aaron's bravery in Robert John Gardner's "Circumstances of War". Usually, war times present differently to people and many wouldn't have found love if not for the circumstances of war. This kind of love will stand the test of time due to the circumstances at the inception. Congrats on being BOTD. Nice review.

The review is very interesting and well written.
The book addresses many themes as love, war, family, and personal struggles. The mix of all these topics in a well written story gives the book good potentials. Congrats on BOTD

The Gordon twins sound like they are a handful. Children should not get teased for what their parents do, but unfortunately, they do. I will be interesting to find out what becomes of the twins.

WWII was a fascinating time that showed us both the darkest and the best of humanity. I'm sure having twins will add an interesting twist to it, and personal narratives are my favorite way to connect with major historical events. Thank you for your review.

A WWII book that tells us the story of two families, one from the USA and another from Germany, is my cup of coffee.

Thank you for the great review.

This book paints a vivid picture of strength, survival and love despite the prevailing situation of war, of conflicts and of limitations. It's very much an infusion of inspiration and of hope.

Mo, they find refuge in love thinking about Janey is what keeps him sane as he faces the brutality of the front. It's as if his love for her is an anchor in the middle of the storm.

I'm confused -- is this a historical fiction telling stories from a war that has happened? Or a speculative fiction regarding a war that is fictional?

Regardless, it sounds like a good story, I just like to know what I'm getting into haha.

Historical fiction books are usually a gem. They unfold events unknown to many, allowing them to get some details that only the books' content can tell. Though I am not usually excited by war stories, I may try read this book in order to get to experience the multifaceted aspects of wartime.
