In this book, I believe Arnold will become a better father to Billy than his father was to him. With an abusive father, he would want to do better than his father. This is a great book to read.

I hope Arnold breaks the cycle and does better by Billy. I will pass on this book because the plot doesn't really intrigue me.

I'm not a fan of sports books and from what I have read from the review I don't think I would read this with the way Scotty was treating Arnold. Thanks for the book of the day but I'll give a pass on this one.

It is too sad to see a parent belittle their children, which can trigger trauma in their childhood stage. I feel for Arnold because his father is belittling him, but I hope he won't apply the same kind of parenting to his own kids. As a sports fan, this book will be a good fit for me. Congratulations BOTD!

This book sounds like a powerful and thought-provoking read. It's interesting to see how sports can have such a significant impact on a community, and how the pressure to excel can lead to abusive behavior. The story of Arnold and Billy, and the question of whether or not Arnold will repeat the same patterns of behavior as his father, sounds like a compelling and emotional journey. I'm definitely intrigued and would love to read this book at some point.

Billy Jones Father by Fred Engh is an amazing book to read. It teaches parents how to treat their children in a friendly and non-abusive way. Though Arnold's father was abusive to him, he strived to do better than his father by coaching his son Billy.

I tried to understand the aspect of abuse on the character by his father. I have read or watched something like this elsewhere. It's a serious issue. But the beautiful part of this book is how the events seemed to have been centered around the world of sports. Brief and concise review. Kudos.

Although I am not into sports, this book sounds interesting. I am anxious to start reading it and meet all the characters involved in the story. You wrote a fantastic review!

I enjoyed reading the first chapters of the book to get an idea of style and editing. The review is marvelous, giving us such a thorough synopsis of the book. Having only read a few chapters, I was pleased to read that Arnold and Sara get married. I felt bad for Arnold and genuinely liked Sara. Sophia describes Sara and Scotty well from what I read in the book. Sara was a delight and Scotty was a cocky bully to his own son. It was hard to find something to like about Scotty.
Great review! Kudos to the author for BOTD!

It is interesting to see this type of theme in a book, it calls for reflection to many parents who want to impose their tastes and ideas on their actions regardless of the opinion of the children. Good job.

Torrid Hills sound like an interesting place. However, Scotty Jones has bad parenting skills. Why will he compare himself to his son? It's sad that some parents do this. Interesting review.

Normally, I am always ready for historical fiction, because it is one of my favorite genres, but unfortunately, this is not the case with the book. I am not athletic myself and have no interest in any type of sport and, without it, see no point in reading the story, especially considering references to abusive parents. Still congrats on BOTD!

It seems like an inspiring story. Sport can be so many things depending on the people and how they perceive it. I haven't read many sport related books. This is very informative review.

I hope Arnold learns not to be like his father. Seeing the effect his father's way of raising him has on him, he shouldn't do the same to his son, Billy. Good review.
