If you are in the mood for a good spy novel, this book should fill that need very well. Triple involves Russia's KGB, Israel's Mossad, Palestine's PLO and the militant group, Fedayeen. The story starts at the end of WW2 and continues up into the 70's when Israel was assumed to have acquired nuclear weapons. Triple is a story about how Israel was able to acquire the atom bomb and proposes why Israel continues to exist today.
Ken Follett, true to nature, has developed his characters fully – which is why I enjoy reading his works. The story develops so many twists and turns, I felt like it was building a ball of tangled string bound together with tight knots – so much so, I had to put it down for a day. However, after picking it back up, I found those knots and tangles straightened out quite nicely.
Historically, I discovered how control over the development of nuclear weapons was attempted, and how it came to be that Egypt eventually recognized Israel as a nation; well, at least from this story's perspective.
