Nellie by Cynthia Woolf is book 1 of her San Francisco Brides series. This is a good book. A complete story by itself. Free now on Amazon.

Nellie is left a widow by the civil war. Her in-laws allow her to stay with them because of their 2 grandchildren. The situation is not a happy one.

She makes the decision to marry a saloon owner who has requested a widow with children. He needs a family to help with a business deal. She needs a home and money.

Nellie is pleased with the home and servants. Things sour as she is threatened by both his employee/x-lover and her x-father in law. She is pleased also to find out that sex does not always include violence like her last marriage.

The book spends a lot of time on each sexual act making it appropriate for older readers. The plot is entertaining. Fun to see the marriage progress to both loving each other.
