How to find a book without knowing the title or author

Post by GemAnthony »

I read a book that I had borrowed from a friend when I was in high school (early 80's) and from what I recall about the condition of the book, it was not new. I remember enjoying it and have been trying, for years, to figure out a way I can find it again. I recently discovered multiple search engines that will allow you to enter what you know and it will return results, but of the results were either old enough, nor was the described storyline the book I remember.

Unfortunately I don't remember much. It was a hardback and did not have a dust jacket, the book itself was teal leaning towards blue as opposed to green. It was a romance set during the Civil War and the heroine's name was Julie. Not much to go on, I know. Many of those search engines I referred to above are returning "Julie Garwood" novels. I'm not sure if I should be searching the romance genre or the historical novels genres due to the setting/time period.

It's amazing to me that you can remember the main character's name!

My best guess would just be to use google search and try to search for specific scenes from the book. If it wasn't part a series, it'll be even harder to find, but it may not be impossible!

If it was part of a series, I'm unaware of it. I've googled it every which way I can think of it, no luck as of yet. Thanks for your encouragement!

I've had luck finding series by putting in memorable phrases that's stuck in my head. Although there's this one book that still escapes me....

Do you remember anything more specific of the plot? Perhaps if you describe the story, someone here may recognise the book.

Could it perhaps be a part of the Sunfire series?

Eustacia Tan, no I don't really remember much of anything other than what I've offered. It was 35 years ago, lol... and since most days i can't remember what I ate for breakfast!

Sarah_Khan, I'll check that out... thank you.
