Dark Aemilia by Sally O' Reilly

I don't usually read historical fiction but I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Without going into too many details this story takes place over a span of twenty or so years during and after the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. It focuses on Aemilia Bassano and her sordid love affair with Shakespeare.

The thing that enraptured me the most was her personality. In a time when women were supposed to be no more than decoration and pawns to advance their family name, Aemilia was incredibly intelligent,witty, and outspoken.

I'm curious to know anyone's reactions and thoughts!
