What is true love without its hurdles and challenges? Listen to Your Heart by Judy Condon is not your conventional love story but one where two hearts battle against time and challenges to be together. Sam and Jenny had been childhood friends ever since Jenny was introduced to Sam's class. He had been there for her throughout their lives in Sugar Creek and even when they moved on to college, but all this time, they viewed their love as that between siblings, oblivious to the strength of their bond.

When Sam enlists in the Air Force to serve his part in the Vietnam War, he still keeps in touch with Jenny through letters they send between themselves. However, things take a turn when she asks for advice on Ed, her boyfriend at the time; his reply never gets to her; she assumes wrongly, and a miscommunication costs them their future together or does it? What becomes of her and Ed? There's only one way to find out.

This book's plot was so unique and unexpected to me; I was expecting a conventional romance story, but even the original description did not prepare me for the contents of this book. The book is told from the perspectives of both Sam and Jenny, with Jenny's in italics, and this helped me observe first-hand their emotions. The plot begins with narrations of their childhood, their high school and college experiences, as well as other aspects of their lives. The characters were few and solidly developed, with an emphasis on emotions. The narrations were extensive, with my favorite being the early descriptions of life in Sugar Creek.

I have no dislikes for this book but instead words of praise and admiration. The book was emotionally placed, with infusions of humor at strategic points of the story. I also picked lots of lessons, especially Hinata's words of wisdom; his theories on coincidence and quotes from Jung intrigued me. The diction was straightforward for everyone to follow. I did not encounter any grammar errors; this book was impeccably edited. Due to the positive nature of this book, I'm rating it a 5 out of 5 stars. I thoroughly recommend it to romance enthusiasts and those looking for a great read.

Am really curious to know the ending of Sam and Jenny. However, I don't really agree that for love to be considered true, both partners need struggle with it. This seems to be a really interesting story and am curious to read it. Thanks for the engaging review!

Romance novels feel to me like often the same story in a slightly different setting. I like the premise of this book, that is has an unexpected plot. The use of humor in writing also is a definite plus.

'Listen to Your Heart’ by Judy Condon redefines love against all odds. Childhood friends Sam & Jenny navigate war, lost letters, and decades of unspoken feelings. A Vietnam-era romance with dual perspectives, razor-sharp emotion, and a twist you won’t see coming. Congratulations on being BOTD!

The reviews are indicating more intriguing aspects of the story. The plot seems to alude more than a romantic happy ever after. The twists in the lives and distances between Oklahoma and the Vietnam war seem to provide a more in-depth aspect of following the heart and turning from the immediate view of circumstances. I am now anxious to to check this story out. Thanks

A love that is remembered after 30 years , when life has passed and we think we lost our changes. Janny and Sam never confessed each other, maybe because they were young, they were friends and the war was happening.
But when Jenny finds Sam's mementos, she remembered. And What d we do with all these feelings that grows again inside?
