A book of poems with a Buddhist twist sounds quite interesting. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I have never understood poetry so I'll have to pass on this one. Thank you for the excellent review.

I'm excited to see another book of poetry as the book of the day! I especially love poetry about nature, and the fact that the author uses it to speak of his love and his worries as a method of venting makes it all the more special. Love and pain are two of the strongest driving forces behind poetic creativity.

This collection sounds really wonderful, and I like that it has a whole theme to it, that it tells a story. Thank you for choosing to read and review this book! You did a really good job in your review!

Poetry can often be hard to understand and absorb because it comes from the inside out rather than the outside in, the way we get to know people normally. As you mentioned in your review, the introductions help to give a context for the thoughts and emotions expressed in Ian's poetry, making them more accessible to any reader. I was blown away by the images he creates with his words. A roller coaster indeed. Thanks for a great review.

I think the "Painting with Words" section of describing beautiful landscapes would be the most interesting to read out of all of the poems. It is good that the author explains the poems in his introductions.

Interesting! I wonder how the poet caught the essence of Buddhism in his words. Though poetry isn't my cup of tea, it has an unexplained beauty within.

I'm usually not attracted to poetry but this collection sounds exceptionally beautiful and your review has definitely made me want to take a look. I'm also Greek, so I really appreciate the sentiment and to me makes this book seem almost more personal and allows us to get even closer to the author. I also love your enthusiasm about the section dedicated to his wife - it's made me excited to read a poem for the first time in a long time!

"Painting with Words," by Ian Prattis is a collection of poems about nature, the environment, society, war and our planet. These poems span over forty years of the author's life. The book is divided into six different sections. In Part I called "Bittersweet ", the author explores the universe's and his own personal dark side of humanity. In Part 2 " Painting with Words ", Prattis shows his love of nature as he voices his gift through painting pictures with words. In Part 3 "Aqua Viva " the author shows the reader the Mexican world and the civilization of the Mayans. " The Footsteps of Buddha " in Part 4 tells about the author's life in India. Prattis tells how he almost died, the fear that came with that and surrendering to life and death when faced with either living or dying. " Speaking of True Love ", is Part 5 and it is about love. A celebration of souls reflecting one another, souls bonding in a fiery union and a pure love divine of nature. Part 6 "Ancient Wisdom " is the last part of the book with the author telling how we can gain wisdom through communing with nature. These poems are all insightful, thought-provoking and intriguing. The author's collection of poetry goes straight to my heart, it speaks in clear and loud words, sometimes it is the truth, it's incisive, void of recurring imagery and symbolism. The book was well written, edited and thought out. I give this book 4 * ' s.

The themes are really intriguing especially 'Speaking of true love'. I appreciate that the author has given an introduction to every poem to understand the background behind it. It helps the readers to get more engaged in the thoughts of the author. Congrats on BOTD!
