I adore poetry and after having read the sample and now your glowing review, I know that I have to read it through. There is a beauty in poetry that can not be found anywhere else and I love being a part in the author's intimate soul through their words. Thank you so much for this review!

A wonderful review about what sounds like a wonder book. This is obviously an emotional collection of poems made even more memorable by the introductions that the poet gives before each poem. Obviously a book to be kept and read over with, I'm sure a special poem for each reader to treasure.

It has been a regrettably long time since I have enjoyed poetry, and I don't recall reading any written by a Buddhist. I will add this to my "To Read" shelf for sure!

I'm not a big fan of poetry so I probably won't read this one. Thank you for the insight on this book.

i find good poetry to one person isn’t going to be good to another. Although I didn’t feel as if I connected with this poetry, I still see the value in it. Although I must admit I did like the poem he wrote for his wife and part two, I thought it was lovely and a great comment on their relationship. I did enjoy your review though. Thanks for the great review! :eusa-think:

I am a Buddhist and I was curious about the poems under the title “Footsteps of Buddha”. Knowing this book has a Buddhist approach has me intrigued. Even if I don't go for collections of poems usually, I think I'd be interested in this book. So, thanks for the interesting review.

Thought provoking poetry that makes you look unto yourself is the best. It's hard to put your feelings down and have others understand and reflect in their own life. Well done Dr. Prattis 👏👏

I liked the artwork and while I have some fondness for poems, it is not strong enough for me to read an autobiography. It did look slightly interesting, but it's not for me.

Reading this book was definitely an emotional roller coaster.
.
A well-written collection of poems about nature, love, war, and society. I am glad you enjoyed the variety of themes, feelings, and lessons you received while reading this book. Fans of poetry will enjoy this "emotional roller coaster!" Plus, it is well edited! I don't think it is for me, though. This is not my genre, and I am not interested in poems that represent a Buddhist lifestyle. Thank you for the detailed review! :tiphat:

Excellent review and I can see you really enjoyed it. I am not good with interpreting poetry so I will put this one on the back burner! When I have to really pause and wonder exactly what a poem is telling me, and read it over and over to try to find the true meaning, I usually end up giving up! From the sample I read, like you, I liked the fact that there is a comment before each poem as to why it was written. I personally have never seen a book of poetry with that extra effort put into it. It does help someone like me understand what I'm reading in a poem but I still have trouble getting the deeper meaning! Thanks again for the review!

What do I like about "Painting with Words" by Ian Prattis? I like the cover page, it is very natural and I feel relaxed like I am by the beach. Secondly, I like the different themes in this book. I also like that the author is able to take us on a journey while sharing bits and bits of his life. Kudos!

I don't read poetry, therefore I wouldn't choose to read this book. It sure should please poetry lovers as, according to the review, it's well edited and the reviewer has read it twice, which says that the book is interesting.

I am unsure how the painted words by the author would touch my mind. I am not a fan of poetry, so, I would not waste my time reading the life illustrations by the poet.
