The Hardest Part
Death and endings aren’t simple, nor the hardest part of letting go. It’s the feelings and memories that come with what’s left. They’re messy and painful yet bittersweet. Messy memories that feel like a jagged piece of glass. They’re used to rip and tear pieces of the heart, then treated as trash thrown to the ground. It doesn’t happen in normal time, it goes in slow motion, crashing like waves sending tiny beautiful shards to the floor; leaving memories scattered around. Sometimes clear, sometimes dark, these memories crawl out of nooks and crevices tucked away in corners of the brain. They’re like a music box only your the only one who can hear and see them play. Round and round in your head like a carousel but never in order. You never know what or when these memories will come. They flood in and the feelings that follow can range from excitement and joy to earthquakes followed by a tsunami of emotions. Lets not forget the crippling anxiety that makes you question everything and ask all the what ifs, and I should, could, would haves, driving you deeper into depths of despair all the while thinking you might actually be crazy. Death and endings aren’t simple nor the hardest part it’s being left with the love of what once was but won’t ever be again. The loss of things that can’t last.

It's beautiful. But I think it's more of a story than a Poem
