The Turning Point

The Turning Point
Shuffling lazily towards the big steel gate,
An entrance to a place I could almost call home,
Wondering if this will be the last time,
Behind those walls I had several times died,
Only to resurrect with new skills in the trade,
Here I am, Victor Omar Bongo,
Released into a world not waiting, for any of his lost son come home.

Wandering aimlessly through the streets of Harlem,
A place I had spent most of my useful life,
Stream of commuters jostling each other,
New York hasn’t change a bit,
Everyone seems to have appointment with the President,
And everyone seems to be late already,
And here am I, keeping appointment with void.

Stopping mindlessly at a newspaper stand,
Browsing boringly through the headlines:
Governor Smith acquitted for lack of evidence,
President Jackson can’t be tried ‘cos of immunity,
The same old world, only the fools get caught.
If only I can locate ‘The Law’
Maybe I will be lucky this time, if ……….

Coming suddenly to a large billboard,
Sign reads, “Jesus, the hope of the world”
“Another religious gig” I say,
If only Jesus will help me pull this one off,
But how do you ask God to aid you in a robbery?
Just then a voice spoke:
“Far be it from the Almighty to commit iniquity!
But if any man will seek him, he will be found of him.”
Oh boy! Talk of joy –God speaking to man!

That's a good poem. I like it fluency and creativity.
