Constant Gratification

Constant Gratification

There once was a man
Who could get what he wanted.
No cost
No strings.
Just want,
Get things.

Do what thou wilt was the whole of his lore.
The laws of the land he could safely ignore.

He wanted to travel
To see all the sights
Through New York days
And Bangkok nights.

He wanted a woman
To use any which way.
He’d know just the word
To make her his for the day.

He wanted a man
For much the same reason.
A well crafted phrase,
They’d be his for the season.

To do whom thou wilt with no husband or wife.
Emptiness ached in the heart of his life.

He wanted fame.
He wanted power.
He ruled his world
From his ivory tower.

He wanted adventure,
A story to live.
A lover to leave,
No time to forgive.

He wanted a challenge.
An army he fought.
He wanted solutions.
Foes melted to nought.

Do what thou wilt was all that he knew.
But if all can be done, then nothing feels true.

He wanted excitement,
A reason to strive,
An ongoing purpose
In staying alive.

Do what thou wilt was all of his life.
Constant success is a double edged knife.

There once was a man
Whose heart needed mending.
He sat on the shore
And wished for an ending.
