I Cry; An Eldest Daughter’s Pillow

I cry for you,
You never got to see
How your life
would've otherwise been
I cry for her,
You never saw
Her thirteenth birthday
nor she your forty-eighth.
I cry for her,
She came home exhausted
Looking for rest,
Only to get that call
I cry for him,
he was there
he watched you leave
helpless.
I cry for her,
she prayed everyday
for her son
to live
I cry for him,
He was silent
Too young to lose you.
Now poor humour hides his pain
I cry for him,
younger yet
His first encounter with loss
Not yet four
I cry for her
though we oppose
she too lost
a father
I cry for me,
I watched it all
I'm part of her
I heard it all
She cries to me
how could you leave
She hid her pain
so deep
She understood
she understands
Yet the pain remains
She wonders if you know
So I cry for you, I cry for them
Because they may not know
When you were all alone at night
I'm sure you did so too.
You never got to see
How your life
would've otherwise been
I cry for her,
You never saw
Her thirteenth birthday
nor she your forty-eighth.
I cry for her,
She came home exhausted
Looking for rest,
Only to get that call
I cry for him,

Too young to lose you.
Now poor humour hides his pain
