Help, Please: I Forgot the Title

About 5 years ago, I read a great little oddity of a book about a boy born to a black woman who is, at birth, "white" ... but then, as he grows older, turns "black" .. and his experiences as he roams the countryside of the South.

I loaned the book to someone whom I lost touch with, and now I'd like to give it as a gift to a friend. Unfortunately, I can't remember the title. If anyone knows the title of this book, please let me know, OK?!

Could it be Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin? Published in 1961.

It was a much more recent book than that. Published maybe 5 or 6 years ago or so. Guess I'll just have to keep looking.

I wasn't clear, the original publish date was 1961. It's been published many many times since then.

But anyway... let us know if you find it.
