Do you believe in reincarnation

Post by Janien van Rooyen »

I asked myself this question so many times. Did I live in a previous life? Will I have another life after this one?

After reading Yesterday by Samyann, I find myself thinking about this even more.

What are your thoughts about this?

I do. My sister disagrees with me however because I take it to the whole 'you come back to finish a mission until God says you've gotten it right'; she says God can make as many people as He wants but I still believe in reincarnation history wouldn't repeat itself otherwise.

I hoped for reactions just like yours while writing Yesterday. There are many believers, as well as skeptics. Lots of books on the topic. If you’re interested in detail not as fictional as Yesterday, check out Carol Bowman’s Children’s Past Lives and/or The Boy Who Knew Too Much by Cathy Byrd.

An open mind to ‘what if’ questions will always present wondrous possibilities.

Thank you for asking this question on the forums, Janien!

I have thought about it but I am not sure I believe in it. I have a degree in history and a minor in religion. So reincarnation is a topic that was brought up quite a bit. I have been in many discussions about it. I may not believe in it but it is interesting to think about it. If it was real, who was I in a past life? Definitely something to think about and it also brings us back to the present and how we live our lives now.

You are most welcome ?

I have often wondered about this. I've always believed that I lived before this life. People that know me call me an old soul. I am very open minded when it comes to things like this. I must commend you, it really was a good and fascinating book. Well done!

It would be nice if it's real. But so far, we don't have any proof that reincarnation really happens. If it does, I wonder who I was prior and who I will be in my next life?

Mmmm? I'm not sure. There are certain things and places, situations and time periods, even countries, that I've never visited before that I find I have a very strong affinity with. Is this just deja vu, or does it relate to reincarnation?

The idea behind the reincarnation is that the human soul is immortal. This idea is not new. The Babylonians believed death was a passage to another kind of life. Nowadays this idea of reincarnation comes from Western countries. I've read articles where people claim they remember their past-life experiences. When reading those articles, I perceive how strong those people connect to life; these people don't want to die. They want to be remembered forever, so the concept of reincarnation is very appealing. I do not believe a soul goes from one body to another, so I do not believe in reincarnation.
