Have you ever been camping?

Post by Christina Rose »

When Sarah meets Tom, William, and Myra, the three are getting ready to embark on a difficult hiking and camping trip. Have you ever been camping? Do you have any memorable stories to share?

Yes, I have been camping multiple times. My family and I enjoy fishing, campfires, and long walks together. I do not have any specific memories that come to mind. However, there is never a dull moment with my family.

Years ago we were given a camping space on a slope. Our sleeping bags kept sliding down-comical and frustrating! Fortunately, I now live in a quiet, wooded area and don't need to go camping to experience nature.
Interested in books that help one's spirit move beyond the ordinary.

The last time I went camping was 10 years ago. I went with my brother and his family. My nephew was only a year old. We went to this camp ground in Cherokee, North Carolina. I still remember it very vividly. That is where I cracked a whip for the first time. I was 16. My brother was not to thrilled because I am his baby sister and he has a dirty mind. Has anyone ever watched the bonus features on the Catwoman DVD? That is where I learned it. We did get to go the the Cherokee Museum and saw a waterfall. It was pretty awesome. The talk about the Natives in the book reminded me a lot of going to Cherokee.

Yes, but not one of my experiences can hold a candle to the characters' own. I've never climbed anything natural (trees and mountains). I wish I were tougher and my ? stronger.

It sounds like you have a great relationship with your family, which is awesome. You all seem to be making great memories!

That definitely sounds like something that would be frustrating at the time, but you could laugh about it later. ? Living in a quiet, wooded area sounds great!

I haven't either, but would like to. My son is a tiger scout this year, so hopefully we will be doing some camping soon.

I'll have to remember to watch those bonus features. I bet North Carolina has a lot of great campsites.

I don't think many of us have experienced anything quite like that of the characters in the story. My hikes consist mainly of uneven trails in no way comparable to the trails from the book. Hiking in West Virginia was probably closest. That was the first time I had seen any real caves.
