I prefer to pay with cash. However, in this digital world we live, every time it's more difficult to pay with cash in many places, so we need to have a debit or credit card. Since I hate debts, I only use a debit card because in that way I know exactly how much money I have (in my account) and how much I can spend and period. I do not have to return money to the bank with high interests.

I only use cash, a debit card, or occasionally contactless. I now have specifically asked the bank for an account that won't let me go into the red as a couple of years back, at a very strange time in my life (but not making excuses) I got into debt. BTW, does anyone still use cheques? Personally I mourn their demise! If, say, you're paying a tradesman - builder, plumber, etc, they may not always have the facility to deal with plastic, but it's more 'official' and provable than cash in hand.

My experience on paying through credit card online was not good. An app almost ripped off my 1 month salary in my bank.

I had used cheques back in Philippines during Christmas, when I applied for loans and maternity incentives. Unlike some cheques where the banks are giving you blank notes, those cheques were given in one-time full check value. That means, I can't keep it for a long time. I had to encash ASAP.
