There probably isn't a more honest comedian on the today's stand-up circuit. He doesn't stand there and pretend like he enjoys kids-- he tells you that he thinks they're dumb creatures and he fully despises them. He lives to go out and screw with people and that's why people love him. He's the guy that does and says what most of us wish we had the balls to on a daily basis. He rants on why everything about why being white is great

On the stand up weeks and months on Comedy Central I see some unknown really funny comedians (there's still hope) but you're right this is the way to do stand up comedy.
It's changed greatly, it's generally centered on being brutally honest these days..
I'm thinking it's come from when the comedian would forget his joke or something and he'd say along the lines of "...Oh s***! I honestly can't remember the rest of my joke, night wrecked." and then that quote would actually become the joke, as if it's been planned all along. It's like the honesty has evolved and evolved to the point where you can say virtually anything!!
Ricky Gervais obviously being a large contributor in this game play
Modernisation eh?

So many good ones, but I've always loved Martin Short. Never fails to make me laugh.

I Love Robin Williams - he is brilliant! Great actor too. He sure can be crude though - we saw him live.
I also really like Howie Mandel.
Yes, George Carlin was great too (too bad he died). Also saw him live.

Glad to see some of the old-timers mentioned here. Some more were Frank Gorshin, Flip Wilson, Bob Newhart, Jerry Lewis.

Victor Borge, he was one in a million. Joan Davis was another one.

One of my family member's ex-husband did landscaping for the Borge's in the 90s. My husband helped him one day and met Victor Borge. The comedian took quite a liking to my husband and chatted his ear off. Seemed like a nice guy.

I havent heard that name for years. I used to have all her record albums. Anyone remember the party records by Red Foxx?
