I was named after my grandfather (Yanni). In Greece, it's traditional to name the first son after his dad's dad.

My parents had 2 kids before me, and they were both girls. Then, I came along, and I'm also a girl. My dad just ended up giving me the female name for Yanni (which is Yanna). Sorry, dad. He wanted a son so badly. XD

My second and more personal name is Pudulogo, it was my paternal grandmother's name. It was given to me by my father. when translated from Setswana it means "enlightenment".

I bet it is an honor to carry the name of your grandfather. It bears the life's journeys of your grandparent. Your parents and your generation will always be reminded of your grandfather.

My parents had decided that if I was a boy, they were going to name me Mark. Then, 26 days before I was born my aunt and uncle had a son and they named him Mark! Good think I was a girl..... I am named after St. Patrick but the female form - Patricia.

My mother wanted to name me something that showed strength and courage. She picked the name Katherine after the famous actress Katharine Hepburn. She loved that Ms. Hepburn's later movies showed her as a lawyer and an overall strong, independent woman.

Hello all. I just joined today so I'm new to all this. Looking forward to getting to know you all in the future. My name is Denise Carol, My mom was not very creative I guess, as her middle name is Denise, and my dads is Carol. ( yea i know kinda weird Carol for a male) My grandma says she was trying to write Carl but was still woozy from the delivery so added the o and made it Carol so when she realized the mistake she went with it and called him Carol.

My name is Eilidh, which is a Scottish name. My dad is Scottish and we were living there so they wanted me to have a Scottish name. I don't think they thought about how every other country in the world would never be able to pronounce it, or spell it!

My name is Maria. A very boring, common (maybe the most common) name. My grandma had this name and while apparently my parents looked at several names before I was born, soon after my mom decided Maria it is. And that's what I'm blessed with.

Wow! Your name is a name of affirmation. The meaning of my first name is very simple. Donna in Italian is a lady.

My mom named me after a doctor from the show "ER". The doctor in the delivery room reminded her of one of the characters from the show and that's how I got my name.
