I have never dieted to lose weight in all my 62 years, although I have remained on certain types of diets in order to lower cholesterol, high blood pressure and high triglycerides.

High protein, complex carbs, plenty of good fats from nuts, seeds, avocados, eggs, etc.............Atkins was right " fat burns fat "

and of course a ton of fruits and veggies ...

Cheese and yogurt along w/whole grains...........

it must be working, I never get sick ( haven't even had a cold since the 80's ) and have maintained the same weight since my modeling days...

Something I'm really pleased with buying is a FitBit. I don't diet since my love of Ben and Jerry's n' Entenmanns dashes any diet to the ground. But the FitBit is just fun, every night I log into the site and we all cheer each other on.
Another fitbit and ice cream lover here :)

I've been using myfitnesspal for over a year and have lost 125lbs. I don't have a specific diet. I eat what I want just less of it and I get at least 60 minutes of exercise a day.

No. "Dieting" - the word itself seems to already be a set up for failure. The key to staying in shape and being healthy is keeping a balance between physical activity and clean eating. When most people "diet" they usually tend to cut things out, avoid things, deprive themselves, and are always feeling hungry. I can honestly say I do not exercise hard as much as I should, and I have a decent gene pool, but still have some history of obesity in my family. I am a 30 year old female, about 5'4" and I weight about 120lbs. I am actually smaller now that I was in high school but my weight has always been about the same, and I still fit into clothes I bought 10 years ago. My key is clean eating. Most people would say I am very strict on my diet and they assume everyday is a torturous struggle for me, but it isn't. I didn't do it overnight, but my advice is, if you care about your health, do research and see what goes into the foods you are actually eating. Even if you family has a history of long life that doesn't mean you will be so lucky. The food our parents and grandparents ate is not the same food we have today. Most things you can buy, whether packaged, processed, or even fresh, can be polluted with chemicals and other dangerous toxins. Fast food and casual dining chain restaurants even put a lot of things in their food that are considered "edible" and safe" in small doses but can be made up on synthetic materials like plastics! Once you realize what goes into food and where it comes from it is easier to not want to eat those things. But in a nutshell, my person diet is varied and vast but my few rules are that any meats I eat must above all be grassfed (and if organic as well that helps but grassfed comes first), with poultry and chicken I look for cage free, pasture raised, and organics. I do not eat Gluten, I gave it up a couple of years ago. I also do not eat anything that is packaged or processed, and usually avoid canned foods. I prefer everything fresh and i try to eat an even balance of cooked and raw foods. I do not eat dairy but with the endless options of dairy-free foods there is no loss. I do eat cheese but only if it is RAW cheese (not pasteurized). I try to eat something green with every meal and I take a daily multi-vitamin and weekly probiotics. I run or bike ride 3-5 times a week and sometimes do yoga, but I don't do anything very strenuous. My only last rule is that I avoid anything GMO. If you eat real whole foods then it's easy for your body to use, digest, and eliminate waste. I never have hunger pains and I never feel that too full bloated feeling after I eat, nor does eating a big meal make me drowsy or tired. Start with one thing at a time, and don't get overwhelmed. You don't have to do it overnight, but when you put yourself on a diet it's like your mind automatically feels deprived and overwhelmed and that's usually why "diets" don't work. It's really something to look at as more of a lifestyle change. :) Best of Luck!

This is exactly what I'm doing at the moment. I'm 21 and I wouldn't call this a diet, it's more of a healthy lifestyle. A year ago I noticed that I started letting myself go, so to say, and since then I read tons of books and articles on healthy living and diets. I decided that limiting myself is not the way to go. Now I'm back to my previous weight and I am learner and I've never felt better.
