I'm now a few hours inland in the Pocono mountains of PA. Hope and pray all is well when we return home. Just waiting for it to hit sometime tomorrow!
Oh no! will definetly keep you all in my thoughts and prayers! That's a bit rough having an earthquake and a hurricane isn't it!

It's been exactly a year today that the 7.1 magnitude quake shook Christchurch and I think the fault line decided to have a little birthday party with a few minor aftershocks! What a crazy 12 months it has been!

No promises there, but I believe Christchurch's stadium was pretty badly damaged in the quake and there are no games being played here. They should be safe from the shakes. It would be just like the Christchurch fault lines to welcome the rest of the world to the World Cup with a decent shake right up NZ. Fingers crossed that doesnt happen.

Yep, that one T-T and it's unbelieveable that there's still people left without their house [because of the Tsunamis], living on tents.. after almost a year and a half. The government hasn't done anything.

Leave it to the goverment to drag their feet. They are still dealing with hurricane Katrina in the states. And this last one, Irene. They arent too organized in dealing with it.

i have lived through a storm that knocked down the oldest and sturdiest tree in our neighborhood. it was really scary, though, and my mom had to hold me really tight to make me stop screaming because i was so scared lol

i find it irritating how my relatives make fun of me for saying "are we gonna die?"

That's really a shame. We have the "Earthquake Commission"(a govt organisation) here and they have been a little slack with some people but most people have been given the money they need to start over again. Though, there are still people waiting and using communal portaloos and living with relatives until their houses get sorted. I hope the Chile govt gets their act together soon !

I've been in several tornadoes (being from Missouri that's pretty much expected). Me and my sixteen year old cousin was left alone one night and a tornado hit. Picked the house up and threw it on its side. My cousin was hiding in the closet and a dresser flew through the closet door and killed her instantly. Crushed her ribs. I was five and hiding in the bathtub. Surprisingly all I remember about that night was looking out the window and seeing a pink sky. I don't remember the house moving or anything.

When I was nine my family went on a big camping trip and out of no where it started raining and within minutes the camp site was flooded. They had a lightning storm at the same time. Where we were at you could see people dropping like flies. It was terrifying. Something like twenty two people died from being in the water when the lightning hit. A hundred or so was injured. Let me tell you, those images do not leave your head. Ever. That was the worst thing I've ever seen.

Missouri feels aftershocks from earthquakes sometimes. But its normally in the middle of the night and barely wakes you up long enough to shrug and go back to sleep. Never been in a bad earthquake.
