My favorite is the Dragon. Everything about them screams power and wisdom, and while most are perceived as bad, there are a few who choose to be good. I love the fact that they are human in their ability to choose good or evil, but unlike us mortals, they also represent all the elements. They fly through the air, swim in water, breathe fire, and sleep on the earth.
I believe that Dragons are my spirit animals, and if I were to ever be reincarnated, I would want to come back as one of them.
So there's my favorite mythical creature! What's yours?

and I am generally not a reader of fantasy type books to come across mythical creatures much.
What about Father Christmas, I'll pick him - I guess he counts as a mythical creature.

For me, similar to the Phoenix, every day the sun comes up is a new day generated from the ashes of yesterday.
