What is Your Favorite Word Today?

Every one of us has read something we liked about a particular word in an online dictionary or in some article somewhere. Maybe we have some words that are sentimental to us because our grandma or parents used them a lot when we were little. New words are always being added to the international catalog, and with them new ideas. Maybe there's one going around that we caught and enjoy using when we can in conversation. What's your favorite word today and why?

Quirkyalone... Anybody heard of it? Apparently it's not in the dictionary on this site, because it's underlined in red. :D It's the word for someone who is happy to be single until he or she finds the perfect "one." I think they could have come up with something a little less... quirky... for us single folks, but... :D

Verisimilitude is one I like to use often... I like the way it rolls off my tongue and I think the fact that it describes something incredibly simple makes it all the more pleasurable to say.

For a long time, it was inappropriate. now it is preposterous. We are forever changing our verbiage at home so that our children can learn the correct meanings of words. When my sons' doctor told him he needed a shot in the bottom and my 5 year old told him that was inappropriate was when we knew he had that word down and it was time to add a new one.

Sweetmaggie1996:

My mom used to use large words in conversation with my sister and me when we were little in an attempt to broaden our vocabulary. It worked. When I was around four or so, I told my sister that throwing pillows off a couch was "unnecessary and inappropriate behavior." My mom thought it was really cute, but my grade school teachers didn't. :D She received several phone calls a month about my unwillingness to simply allow them to read stories during "circle time" without their need to fear having their pronunciation corrected in front of the class. This is just to say, "I like your style."
