unts unts unts unts unt unts.....
I thought I would make a thread for those of us hanging at the homage para la weekendo. I noticed how slow this place gets ... so I thought I would try to rev it up. *dances*
Anyway this shall be the fun.. hey what are you doing this weekend thread... um place to be kind of thing. Because this is where the cool people really hang out. Anywayyyy....

I figured a thread specifically for chit chat and getting to know each other on the weekends would be cool. Maybe not. Still a worth while experiment. haha. *puts our a plate of cookies*
This weekend I have been working on a lot of final papers.... just chillaxin... doing some reading.... and not getting envious of all of those out on the town and night clubbing pics on facebook. haha. I wasn't very good at that scene anyway. Oh and my name is Shela. I have been here for maybe a week now. I'm 26 and living near Seattle... ummm.... I have a dog named Maddie. ermmmm I'm going for a degree in Integrated Social Sciences... and I plan on becoming a teacher. I'm going to go get a slice of pizza now.

Whoa, a book party! Cool!
So, yeah I hang out at home all weekend because I am a super introvert and rather proud of it.
Just earlier today I told my boyfriend to go away because he was sucking all my energy. He left for an hour to go to the grocery store.
Yeah.. so... I'm Amy, and I'm something years old and I live in the suburbs of Tokyo now, but I am originally from Memphis, TN.
I studied Anthropology in college, and that turned out to be useless, so then I went back and got a master's in Speech-Language Pathology, and then later, I went crazy like a drama queen and moved to the other side of the planet because I didn't feel like living in the same country as someone that I really, really hate.
True story.

haha nice act of independence telling the boyfriend to go away. haha I have to tell my hubby when I need alone time. It is a necessary evil. And how cool! How did you end up in Tokyo?? Id like to go there one day. How does one just make a move like that? I mean Ive moved across the country on a whim... I mean more like... technicalities of the actual process of moving to another country. did you know someone there already? so cool.

I went to Tokyo on vacation once (ended up there alone, which was not the plan... but that's a different thread altogether!) and it just felt like "home" to me. A coworker's son had done a program where he worked in Japan for a year, and I thought it sounded interesting, so I looked into it as well... I was too late to apply for the same program he was doing, but I ended up finding a job on my own through web searches.
I was already a licensed teacher, so getting a teaching job in Japan was easy for me. I ended up in a super rural area, and then moved to Tokyo after two years. Fun times.
