Serious Conversation is in Order

"I should like balls infinitely better,'' she replied, ``if they were carried on in a different manner; but there is something insufferably tedious in the usual process of such a meeting. It would surely be much more rational if conversation instead of dancing made the order of the day.'' -Mary (Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen)

It has been brought to my attention that we have too much fun on this forum. We play games, and don't get at the deeper elements of human communication.

Alas, I have created this thread where I encourage people to ask those deep brooding questions that hit at the very core of our beings... and respectfully discuss them accordingly.

“Good communication is as stimulating as black coffee and just as hard to sleep after.”
― Anne Morrow Lindbergh, Gift from the Sea

Now... who dares to be brave enough to ask the first question? Also, give your response/stance along with it.

I have this on other forums. I have been online friends with a lot of people for years. We call it Community Chats. It's where we go to talk with everyone about all kinds of things from family, to problems, to the good things that have happened in our lives, to the bad things. We also throw in some fun and music now and then. It's like coming home. It's nice to build a relationship with people and get to know them. It's funny I know more about some of my online friends than my real life acquaintances

If that is you you would like to do then I think we should start by introducing ourselves and give a little personal background.

What do you think?

Oh I see you want deep conversations about things. That's cool. I rather like to get to know people and what is going on in their lives. But there needs to be a back and forth between parties. I think that is hard to get going in some places. I like people who walk the walk not just talk the talk best  I am just not a deep and heavy thinking kind of person. I plan and I am logical but then I follow through. As my husband says…stop thinking and start doing  I will save that for the scholars….me I want to do, lol. It takes both kinds to live in this world

Sure! Well, my name is Shela and I am currently pursuing a degree in Integrated Social Sciences. I am originally from Florida, but spent most of my life in Louisiana. I am 26. I've had every kind of job. I've always kind of tried things, and always liked everything, but I'm not particularly passionate about anything. I love to travel. I am really good at whistling. I would like to teach one day. I have a tattoo on my right foot of a scallop shell, which represents St. James. One day I want to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain. I love history, psychology, all things paranormal/supernatural.... Most things really. I got my Letterman jacket (highschool) in Chess. Ummm.. I have no idea what else to share. I love to read... but I think that is a given. I love hot chocolate and peanut butter. Not mixed, but washing the one down with the other is nice. hmmm.... ok... someone go next. haha
