Very interested in this topic. Would love to chat with others who feel the same.

Here's a " new category " for you: I refer to myself as a " vegetarian who eats meat "...
My diet is mostly plant-based, the remainder consists of fish, eggs, red meat, poultry, nuts, legumes, seeds, etc. for my PROTEIN...
I eat copious amounts of Dairy, Fruits, and veggies on a daily basis...
I love the way I look and feel, Sooo if it ain't broke don't fix it!.......I take 40 vitamins a day ( haven't had a cold since 1980 ) have low cholesterol despite going thru dozens of eggs a month..... no headaches, indigestion, etc........( just knee probs! uuggh ).
My greatest tool ( other than having a mother who was a nutritionist ) is to " listen to my body ".......Grandma lived to 102 ( died of a broken heart / love affair w/some dude in the nursing home )...heeehe, he was a young'un at age 80 who never knew her real age...
Good luck in reaching your goal!

Thank you suzy! Correct me if I'm wrong, but that sound like a paleo diet? Not that I know much about that...
Sounds like a great diet and lifestyle! Each to their own, I'm not preachy about this stuff!

Yeah I think Suzy's would be a Paleo diet. Paleos avoid anything that is processed but still have a little bit of everything. Just like old omnivore would do before industrialization. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I've been vegetarian for 2 years and now I'm transitioning to veganism. All set, now I just need to give up eggs. Kinda hard in Angola, everything is so limited.
Suzy, what kind of knee problems do you have? Are they bone related?
Dairy has been proven to actually ruin your bone structure because milk's protein (casein) was proven to be too acidic for our body to ingest. The only way our body has to balance our Ph back to normal levels again is by depleting our bones of the calcium they already have. So, when they say milk has calcium, in fact th more you drink it, the more its protein will remove the calcium you have in your bones.
I'd lay off dairy at least if I were you. It's specially bad in women since we have that tendency that gets worse as the years pass.

Paleo? Mediterranean? whatever ..........The main thing is to not believe everything you hear / read CAUSE IT CHANGES EVERYDAY...
What works for you may not work for me...a " ONE-SIZE FITS ALL " diet doesn't exist...
The best diet is the one that works for YOU...so experiment, listen to your body and it will give you the answer...( books and" experts " WON'T )

I've tried to become a vegetarian on many occasions throughout my life... but I always mess up. Some social occasion a person orders a pizza with meat on it... and I don't want to be rude and I'm too hungry to not eat.... people thinking I'm going it because I'm trying to lose weight then they get all oh no you look fine! Here! Eat this! etc. haha. That or like.. money.. I never have enough money... I I try really hard not to need food stamps. I guess sometimes I am a vegetarian but wait I guess ramen does have meat broth in it... which makes it not count hahaha.

I've never really had an interested in becoming vegetarian... probably because I come from a place where pork BBQ is a staple food. But I still tend to not eat a lot of meat, not for any reason... just because I don't prefer it to anything else. I like vegetables and fruits more than meat. That's it.

AlYNN you've expressed my exact sentiments!....................I have no desire to ever eliminate meat from my diet............granted, I eat less than I previously did, but that's cause this country is no longer producing meat the way they did previously, so it's TASTELESS!
I'll choose a baked potato, or a well made seafood /pasta dish, creamed spinach, etc. over a Antibiotic-laced steak any day..( tofu tastes better )

I'm not a vegetarian because of things I hear/read, but because it feels good for me, my lifestyle and my values, so not that different from you Suzy. I agree that one size certainly doesn't fit all.
I really LIKE plant foods more than meat, and I feel so good when I eat mostly plants!
I actually stopped eating meat when I got bad food poisoning from a roast chicken - I just couldn't face it anymore, plus didn't like the potential bacteria being in my kitchen.
I also follow a Buddhist path, so it fits in with my values.
What ever keeps you happy and healthy is the way you should go, for sure!!
