Do You Feel Sleepy/Distracted After a While?

Hey there guys,
I have a terrible problem. I LOVE books and I wish I could read more than I do already, but I have two problems:
1. I usually read after lunch but since I'm pretty much like an old lady I ALWAYS fall asleep while reading, so there goes two hours of my reading.
2. Unless I'm in a quiet environment, when I'm ina place where the minimum noise occurs, I rarely am able to focus on my reading. I always get distracted and can never pay attention for hours on end, as much as I want to.
Do you go through this as well?
Do you have a solution for this?
PS: Even if I drink coffee I end up falling asleep.

Maybe you should change the time of day when you read? I don't know if your schedule would allow for that, but you might just be falling asleep because you are full from lunch, not really because you are reading. So maybe you could "plan" to fall asleep, and then read after you wake up? Or first thing in the morning if you got up a little bit earlier?
I don't know how to help with the other because I can block out the sounds of children screaming and an airplane crashing in front of me. I don't get distracted easily.

Sleeping before reading might be a good solution, for some reason never thought of that one

I can't get up earlier because I already sleep at 1 or 1.30am because, well... because I was reading.
It's funny that I never feel sleepy at night, but then I feel like crap in the morning, ahah!

At times reading definitely does have a " tranquilizing " effect........
I just translate it as : my body needs to sleep, and go w/the flow............sorry I can't be more helpful, but it's never been a problem for me...
Good luck !

This happens to me all the time! Sometimes I start reading and my eyes just stop working so ill shut them and nap for about 15 min, then wake up and read some more. If its not a good time of day for a nap ill go for a quick walk if i am able to, or drink a bottle of water, or chew some gum. Usually when im reading at night my husband is in bed next to me watching TV, but if its a show that I like or if the book isnt keeping my attention I cant concentrate...ill either stop reading, move rooms or tell him to get out.

maybe you could set a 15-20 min alarm on your phone and set it when you start to feel drowsy.

I was worried I was the only one, aha!
I tried having coffe, chewing gum, keeping the light on but I'm like a freaking baby, I sleep everywhere as long as I'm lying down.
And if I'm not lying down I'll probably lose focus and when I notice I read a whole page without "reading" anything, aha!

I can't stand up for too long (have a kidney problem I was born with), my back starts aching for a while. Maybe I'll try it while standing up against a wall
