Something interesting and fun to do. (members only)

Post by DATo »

If you check the data below my picture you will see that I currently have posted over 5200 comments to these boards since the year 2011. Those are responses to 35 pages of topics - not 35 pages of posts, but topics. I was amazed to find that I had responded to so many. For about the last week I have been revisiting all of those topics and rereading both my comments and those of many other members in each topic thread. I found the experience absolutely fascinating! It was like going back in a time machine or looking at an old photograph album.

These were topics that I was interested in at one time so they are just as interesting to me today. Many of the posters I communicated with in those times are no longer with us, but reading their comments brought them back to me, and many of the stimulating conversations we had were also brought back to life. There were so many things I wrote or conversations I was in that I had totally forgotten! I was quite flabbergasted, amused, but also interested in rereading comments in topics I had originally found compelling enough to respond to. I also found it interesting to note that in some cases, after ten years, I have altered my opinion on some of my own comments *LOL*

Regardless how long or short a time you have been posting here you might get a kick out of trying it yourself.

HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS:
Be sure you are logged in and then click the link at the top/left of any page where it says "Quick Links" which will result in a pull down menu. Then click on the top menu item which says "Your Posts". This will list all of the topics you have posted to in little numbered boxes. I started at the oldest posts (largest number) and worked my way forward to page #1 (today). Then open a second window and simply click and drag the topic you want to investigate from any of THOSE windows to the new window. By doing this you won't have to go "back" to the original page - it will remain open in the background. Each time you check a link in that particular topic it will become hi-lighted on the original page so you will know you have already read it. When you've exhausted that page move to the next lowest number (in the small boxes) and continue.

IMPORTANT: You can then SAVE the page you are on to your bookmarks or favorites and if you resume on another day you will be at exactly the page you left off. Always remember to re-save the page to your bookmarks/favorites before you quit the session.

This can be a nice boredom crusher for those times when you are online and can't think of any particular website to visit. If you decided to try this I hope you find it as much fun as I did.

Thanks for the response.

It's fun to look back at some of the posts made in the past. I had a lot of fun looking up my own and I'm sure you would enjoy seeing some of the ones you've made too. If you are like me you have probably forgotten many of them. It's like what I imagine reading a diary of one's past would be like.
