I know she was only a cat!

I've not been online a few days, I was too upset. I know it's silly. My little black furry friend Spooky has been run over and she couldn't be saved. It's not as if I'd even known her that long. She appeared in my yard at the end of October, just before Halloween, hence the name. She turned a quizzical face at me, wrapped herself round my legs, and whilst I'd like to believe we had some kind of psychic interchange, she probably thought, h'm, there's a can of tuna fish here. She had obviously been owned before as she'd had 'the operation'. She never became what you'd call a lap cat, but the little affectionate touches of her paw and head were sweet and comforting. She was totally non aggresssive, she had a kind of wary gentleness about her, not exactly shyness, and was polite to everyone, but I like to think I had a special place in her heart. She had one in mine. She came to me at a difficult time and seemed to know it. Oh, how I miss her!

Sorry for your loss but take comfort in the short time you knew her you gave her kindness and company, it sounds like she really took a liking to you.

They're never 'only a cat' :)
They're always so much more.
I'm sorry and I hope you feel better.

Not silly at all. I too, am sorry for your loss. It doesn't matter what specie a creature might be, or how long you have known them, if you love them and they suddenly leave your life like that.

I have had several rabbits throughout my life and one didn't even live a year due to a severe health problem he was born with (we did everything we could, but rabbits do not take to surgery well). Cried for months, and I still miss him. People say rabbits don't have personalities (pffft) and anyway I only knew him a few months, but that doesn't matter. You clearly loved Spooky and gave her a good home for a few months. It's natural to miss her.

Take care of yourself. Losing an animal companion can be difficult, but please don't be down on yourself for being down about it.
