Just started reading, having issues with eye-strain

So I recently just started reading novels about a month ago and have made it through two already. I'm loving my new hobby btw. Anyways, one issue I'm having is about after 10-20 minutes my eyes will start to water and strain a bit.

The funny part is I can read the text perfectly fine, and even stranger I can sit at a computer all day, reading even smaller text from further away and don't get watery eyes.

So I really have no idea why this is happening only when I read paperback or hard-covers but it does become annoying when reading for longer period of times. I don't wear glasses and don't think I need to because everything is visible until my eyes start watering then sometimes things can become a little blurry.

Any information or tips on this would be great, thanks!

If your vision is getting blurry as the day progresses, then you have dry eyes. I'm honestly concerned about your job, because I had a job like that (small text, far away) and it took a toll on my vision. Can you talk to your supervisor about setting up better ergonomics in regard to your work environment? I know you say that work isn't causing you eye problems, but from my (somewhat) objective perspective, I think your work environment needs to be improved.

Chronic dry eye can cause your vision to get worse as the day goes on--I know because I have it, and I see an eye doctor. I think you should see one too, but see an opthalmologist, not an optometrist. You're having eye health issues, so you need the real deal--someone with a PhD.
