Does anyone else fall asleep whilst listening to audiobooks?

Post by Sarah G »

I have a really hard time staying awake whilst listening to audiobooks. It's something about being read to that sends me straight off to sleep no matter how awake I feel  .

Is anyone else the same?

Any ideas on how to stay awake?

It happens to me occasionally as well. I am usually in bed when it happens, so maybe being more vertical would make it occur less often. :confusion-confused:

After talking to friends it seems it's more of a common problem than I thought :p

It could be at epidemic proportions! Just very under reported. ;)

I do. I listen to this one reader who has a relaxed quiet voice and very pleasant to listen to. He puts me to sleep after a few minutes no matter what kind of book he is reading. Horror, high adventure, history, no matter what it is Im gone in just a few minutes.

It depends on the book and where I am listening to it. Usually if I want to stay awake, I knit or another activity that keeps my hands busy. Sometimes I want to fall asleep and that is when I listen to them at bedtime.

When I was made to listen to them in school I would fall asleep easy. Actually thought about listening to them to help me sleep at night.

My favorite time to listen to an audiobook is when I am driving. I find in the car it keeps me awake because I want to know what is going to happen next.
