What a coincidence

About three, four days ago a guy I work with told me he had talked to the county sheriff, next county over, who is a friend of his. He says he asked the sheriff "whats the worst crime scene you ever saw?"
My buddy said the cop starts describing the murder of a young woman and her infant son & I interrupted him. "The murderer used to work here" I tell him. It was early 2000s & was described as a horrible crime. The guy was methed out for several days & goes over to his neighbors house & slaughtered the woman & infant brutally. He was so stoned that it took three days before the cops could get anything that made any sense out of him. To say the least, my buddy was surprised that this dude had worked at our plant. He didn't last long, nobody liked him as he was always messed up even back then. He had a grandmother who also worked there, real sweet, nice old lady. I think she just went into denial about & couldn't believe her grandson did it. In any event, the guy got 2 life terms. That was in 2003. Several of us at work started talking & reminiscing about the killer, but no one could think of his name. It was real common, like Tom Smith, or something. We eventually found someone who remembered his name & he told a few stories about the guy. End of story.
On the news last night they reported that this guy was shot & killed trying to escape from the state pen. Its just weird, here's a guy no one has talked about in 10 or 12 years, then this happens. He finally got what he deserved.
