How do you deal with disappointment?

Post by Dh_ »

I'm fairly new to this site and I've only done two reviews. The first one had a very good score and I was actually surprised. The second one didn't have such a great score. I understand that I did make mistakes and I appreciate the editor's notes, but now I'm afraid my future reviews will not be good enough.

Do you have any tips on how to overcome disappointment? Or how to write better reviews?

I look at disappointment as a way to complete what didn't happen. A quitter never wins and a winner never quits. You just don't give up. Tomorrow is another day. You should never give up. If you fail. Then keep trying until you succeed.

Keep writing, learn from your mistake, and don't give up. Read the Guidelines on your RT page as well as some of the reviews here to improve. I am sure you will do better next time. Good luck!

to deal with disappointment you have look at it as a positive phenomena because disappointment reflects your passion towards something, you are disappointed because of your love for writing just as Martin Luther King Jr said that there can be no deep disappointment when there is no deep love so this deep love and passion should drive you to achieve your dreams.

I think it depends on the type of book you read. That's why they say be careful what kind you chose. Then it makes it easier to write the review. Something I try to do is look at the editor's notes but sometimes I will get better than not so good either. That can also depend on the book i'm reading. If it is not very interesting it can make it incredibly hard to write a review and that is where writing notes while you read the book can come in handy so you don't forget later.

Disappointment can be controlled by our minds. So instead of thinking about it the way we usually do, think that you'll do your best next time when the opportunity knocks again. It can never be undone but you can surely do your best next time.
