Marketing Question

Post by Hill Hollow »

I self-published a small collection of short stories last month, does anyone have tips on good ways to market a self-published book?

I would go for social networking applications like facebook and twitter, they're free and allow you to reach a lot of people.

You should google up strategies and tips on how to use facebook and twitter properly because it's really worth it.
And if you don't have a lot of friends on facebook/twitter yet, you could ask someone who does to help you with it.

I suggest writing book reviews of other books that you have read. Then you can publish those and include an "about the reviewer" section telling briefly about you and your book.

For instance, I would be willing to publish such reviews on this website.

I agree with these comments, however, I'd try to make sure the books you're commenting on are similar in theme or feel to the book you've written. Also, starting a blog about writing or on literary criticism might help. It's a lot of work, but you've got to build momentum to get sales! Good luck!

Do PR.....Research relevant news outlets. For example, I once did PR for a fiction book about a dentist turned mad scientist who used stem cells for evil deeds (I'm not joking). Anyways, since the stem cell research was big news, I just contacted talk news stations so they host my client and talk about stem cells, and also promote the book. That is the cheapest and best way to promote your book, in my opinion.

i'd use the internet and may be some kind of resume of the book. The best way is to use the secial networks. Also you can go to the street and try to advertise there, giving some leaflets.
