My favourite would have to be "The Crow". Poor old Brandon Lee, he was sooooo good.

To be serious I've been thinking about my favorite movie all the time and decided that I have no such movie at all. But I hope every year to watch something special and really interesting. But may be 'Pulp fiction' can be not so bad and good enough.

For me, it would be a three way tie between Caddyshack, What About Bob?, and Rose Red.( as always, my choices are vastly different.)

Even tough my favored genre is horror, I honestly can never really get into horror movies. They always focus more on the effects and dramatics than the actual plot, not to mention that, often times, the screen writers are going for the "startle" effect rather than suspense and terror. I recall watching Halloween when I was nine, and it didn't scare me a bit. If anyone can direct me to a horror movie that actually provides proper horror, I would greatly appreciate it.(Two that have been suggested to me are The Exorcist and The Omen, but I probably will not want to watch the exorcist anytime soon considering that I want to read the book first.)

How about The Ninth Gate and Rosemary's Baby? Old fashioned horrors were the atmosphere still counted more than sea of blood and special effects

You are right, most horror movies are all blood and guts and wild special effects that have no meaning. But there are a few out there that are very good. The Changeling with George C. Scott is one, and also the original The Haunting from the 1960's.The Italian director Mario Bava also made some good films in the 60's. But to get back on the subject, my favorite movie of all time is a low-budget film from 1950 called Rocketship X M. It has great soundtrack music by Ferde Grof and a good story, it has a different twist from most of those early sci fi movies. Ive been looking for it for years and I finally found it at a mail-order house on dvd.

Not really. Movies like Paranormal Activity, The Ring and The Exorcist are excellent examples of a strong psychological story bolted to some genuinely arresting acting to create a terrifying story which stays in your mind. And your example of The Haunting is apt, as that is another timeless classic without a drop of blood. I personally see action movies as a waste of time with nothing but "wild special effects with no meaning", thats because im not a fan of action movies. Preference comes into play a lot of the time.
