Something I noticed with my writing

Some grammar rules (and embarrassing mistakes!) transcend the uniqueness of different regions and style guides. This new International Grammar section by OnlineBookClub.org ultimately identifies those rules thus providing a simple, flexible rule-set, respecting the differences between regions and style guides. You can feel free to ask general questions about spelling and grammar. You can also provide example sentences for other members to proofread and inform you of any grammar mistakes.

Hello, I am fairly new to writing book reviews and just free writing in general. I mainly just wrote essays for school and now that I am not writing for a class or anything, I realized I don't habe the best grammar or writing skills. I noticed through grammarly that most of my sentences use a passive voice instead of an active voice. I read that passive voice is mainly used for scientific purposes which makes sense for me as that's what I would normally write for. I was wondering if there are any useful tips to have a more active voice in writing and how to notice the difference.
