How are you increasing your reviewer's score?

A few years ago when I joined OBC, it was extremely easy to increase your score and move on to the next level. Now, no matter what I do, I can not increase my score. I was at level six at one time, but because of board warnings and such, I was knocked down to level four. Now I can't, for the life of me, get back up. You would think that getting 100% on your scorecard would get you a few points, but no, not one measly point. I participate in the daily drawing, but nothing. I am active in the forums, but nothing. I try to help other reviewers when I can, but nothing. I had joined Scott's Mentoring Program, but nothing. Why have the rules become so strict? Is it just my account that is affected? It is very discouraging and makes you want to give it all up. What's the point of it all if you are not going to advance at all? What are the rest of you reviews doing to advance to higher levels? I'm the one who needs help now. Please help me figure this out!

Well, I've been asking myself the same thing! I actually thought you were one of the highest-level reviewers, Shirley. I've been stuck at level 4, sometimes even dropping to level 3. I have a high review quality score, but that's about it. I don't fully understand the system and have no idea how it works. I also don't get what the popularity points are all about.

Well, I am glad that I am not the only one. I thought that maybe they were picking on me for something that I had done. I myself, even being an editor at one time, do not understand the system. When you think that you have it figured out, they change the playing field. Since it's not just me, I guess that I will stick with it and try to find the magic solution, if there is one, to get back up to Level 6. Thanks for your input, Claudia.

I've been on OBC for a month now and reading my 3 book but due to my inexperience I got penalized for my first review where I added my errors within the review. Since than it's been hard to make it out the minused penalty just to get too level 1. Very draining but I'm holding on an hoping for the best. Yet based on everyones comments on this forum, I can tell I've got a long way too go.

Don't worry too much you just have to make sure that all your reviews get 100% score and everything else will get solved with time to do that just make sure that there are no grammar mistakes in the book review and read guidelines at least once before creating a review I also had a rough start but it's getting better for me I am still level 1 but now I know how to get better.

I’m always amazed at how little having a consistently high reviewer score matters. Mine is so high I got bonus points for it. At one point I was an editor on level 6, before Scott decided that if we hadn’t written a review for his book then all the points we got for buying, reading, and commenting on the forum about his book were forfeit. So I did all that, and in the meantime, worked my way back up to level 5. But I still haven’t gotten those points back and nobody can tell me why. They keep asking for videos and screenshots of things I don’t have access to. Now I have to email them and try again. It’s an incredible amount of work for something I should already have, and nobody seems to even know what I’m talking about. Does it matter if I get back up to level 6? I don’t remember the opportunities being any better anyway.

But I think the best ways to move up the levels are making sure you comment on other’s reviews so that they will comment on yours. The popularity rating seems to be important here and you can gain points with more comments on your reviews. Make sure you also get your points for reading the book of the month and commenting on the forum. I’m still having issues trying to get the facebook sharing bonus to give me points, but somehow it never gets me points (only “entries”) and nobody has been able to help me there either. The support staff here is all but useless, unless you’re lucky enough to be elevated to a manager. If you happen to hear back from this person, they tend to be much more helpful.

Ii started reviewing books 3 months ago on this platform. I'm stuck at level 1. No matter what I do. I don't get a score higher than 68%. Can somebody please guide me through the process of increasing the level and score?

I agree with you that the support staff is useless. If they answer you, and that is a big if, they all act like they don't understand you. I think that it is a stall tactic. I have sent so many screenshots and video recordings that, at one point, I just quit. Now I am having a problem with a board warning that was suppose to expire a week ago and it's still on my score. I have written to two different groups, Moderators and the Support Team, but I have gotten no response. They need to either get more help or get a new team. If you make a mistake though, they are right on it. If you need help, they ghost you.

That’s exactly what happens. I don’t understand the point of doing that. I’ve considered that they may be AI bots or that they don’t speak English very well, but none of it makes sense. I’ve been trying to get someone to help me with a problem for weeks, and they keep asking for screenshots and videos of things that I don’t have access to. I don’t understand the point of it.

I also started 3 months ago so take my words with a pinch of salt but I think I am getting a grasp on getting 100% score. If I were to advice you you need to keep in mind three things to get that score.

1) First part is the grammer part you get the first 40 points if there are no grammatical mistakes in your review you can make sure there there are no grammatical mistakes in your review by going through it with multiple apps use chatgpt and ask it to highlight any grammatical mistakes in the review and then correct them also reread it 2-3 time because chatgpt cannot solve all the grammatical mistakes as it is an AI and it has it's upsides but also downsides.

2)second part depends upon guidelines read the guidelines at least once before making a review until you remember it word by word. The most guidelines mistakes are on PQR so remember to get the answers to PQR while you're reading the novel that's when you remember it best.

3) It is the score the editor personally gives you you have to make a review that you personally will like to read then the review will be appealing to the editor resulting in a good score.

Follow the following three things and you will start to get good editorial scores but there are things that you learn with experience rather than reading so you have to face setbacks for sometime I am not saying this will promote you to level 6 reviewer right from the start but this is a step in the right direction.
