Thoughts on lyric poetry

Post by Sumansona1344 »

What do you guys think about lyric poetry? I never learned to write it but it always comes naturally to me. When I was around 15, I could write a lyric poetry in a few minutes. Some people say that lyric poetry is something even a kid can do and it is not for adults. Any thoughts about this?

Hi there, I love lyric poetry. All types of poetry are beautiful. Don't take the negative comments by heart; they are just jealous that they cant create such masterpieces. Can you share some of your works, if you don't mind? I would love to read them.

Thank you for your words! Um, sorry I don't have any of my works right now because after the comments of everyone around me, I burnt all of my writings. I stopped writing after that. I am trying to start writing agan.

Please, don't let the comments of others bring you down. All poetry is beautiful, especially when it comes from the heart. Poetry isn't something that should appeal to ALL audiences. Poetry should bring YOU joy when you write it. It should be freeing. It DOESN'T matter what others think. It is yours and it comes naturally to you! I'd say write like a boss! Some of the greatest poets wrote lyric poetry such as Emily Dickinson and William Shakespeare! Lyric poetry is something that isn't as easy as everyone says. If it comes naturally, then of course it is easy. But to say ANY child can do it is just ignorant! Yes, some kids it comes naturally to, but can they write it within a few minutes...? I doubt it! I definitely agree with @brown_gal! Sounds to me like the negative comments come from those who are jealous...or those with no taste. Poetry is art! Art comes in all different shapes and sizes. Everyone has different tastes. Just because some people say you aren't good, doesn't mean everyone thinks that! I would love to see your poetry! My own poetry is a bit odd, but it is something that I love to do that is freeing. It comes from my heart and just doesn't stop spilling out! No one can measure the talent of my feelings?! And they shouldn't for you either! Please, keep writing and share it with us!

Thank you so much! Your words made me so emotional and overwhelmed. I am so glad that there are people out there who appreciate everything. I am going to take your advice and write poetry again. You are a great person. Thank you, again! I hope you get all the happiness in the world. You really made me feel nice about me today. This hardly happens. Writing poetry gives me the biggest joy of all and whenever I am feeling overwhelmed, I write my heart out. I would love to read your poetry and I will share mine when I will write it.
Take care :)

Oh, thank you! I'm glad that my words spoke to you! Yeah! Go and write your heart out!! It is so important to have things in this world that bring you joy. I am so glad that poetry is one of them! I can't wait to read your poetry! I posted a few...called "Home", "Hourglass", and "Freedom for Patriots". I am a little hesitant to post a lot of my poetry...but I'm getting there! I just want to give you a quote of encouragement really quick..."If one dream should fall and break into a thousand pieces, never be afraid to pick one of those pieces up and begin again." -Flavia Weedn
Stay safe and keep writing. I'll be looking forward to seeing some of your poems.

Yeah, it is! I am going to write when I get better. I am feeling sick from two days. I will find and read your poetry. I love that quote. It really amazed. I am going to write it down. My former favorite quote is "Something good is about to happen". It always gives me a hope. Also, we need to take action to fulfill our dream, thinking about taking an action is going to do nothing.
Thank you for your kind words!
Take care

It's my absolute favourite type of poetry! I think that lyric poetry is the most legit type of poetry of them all. :D

I love writing lyric poetry but somehow it is narrative poetry that I like to read more.
