I've been reading poetry for most of my life--in fact, I have a whole section of my bookshelves that's full of poetry and books about poetry. The thing is, I haven't read much in the last few years, and I want to get back to it. I could re-read all the books I have (and I probably will!), but I'd also like to know about some new poets or newer books. If something that was published in the last five years or so really got your attention, please share! TIA...

I absolutely love Japanese Maple

... that final verse just breaks my heart
We fade away, but vivid in our eyes
A world is born again that never dies.

This is a good poem, and a good reminder that I should look at some issues of The New Yorker Magazine. Thank you!

This year Danez Smith published a collection called "Homie". It is beautiful and I think you'll like it and it'll be a great reintroduction to contemporary poetry.
