I’d actually need a topic. Favorite song for what? Which emotion or funniest lyrics, most well written lyrics, best composition, what mood I’m in, what activity I’m doing etc. there’s only 2 things I’m picky about with music, it has to either be good or funny, no pandering to crowds that want to drink and dance, and second I really don’t like country or gospel because they’re both just basically a bunch of songs all saying the same thing and not even in particularly original ways.
So yeah, I really really love music, even classical which says things without words. Might as well ask me to pick my favorite book or body part, I kinda need and want too many of them…

It’s the exceptions that can make music that has their own unique sound that makes them who they are, but has such variety you can listen to an entire album, or 2, or even 3, and even taking notes you’ll only find a handful of songs that can be played back to back to make them sound like they have a musical formula they don’t ever deviate from, just change the words and vocals a bit, but hearing it all at once starts sounding like the same song over and over (a bit like a really bad amateur reggae band). But my point is, my favorites are the bands/artists where you have to go LOOKING for substandard songs instead of only hearing the good ones in the first place from word of mouth or being promoted on streaming/radio play cuz everything is IS substandard with (what sounds like their own personal math formula for making music
These people who aren’t just stuck in a single lane driving in it their whole career, they aren’t even on a road, they’re just driving through wide open spaces doing whatever they feel like their own way are the ones for me.
I guess it’s the same as my preference of favorite authors (and actors/actresses)- can’t pick cuz my favorites are all amazing storytellers with very different very AMAZING strengths and one thing in common: authors who can write books and/or series that are so COMPLETELY different, even though they’re all sci-fi/fantasy, you can’t even tell it was the same person. If someone gave you a blind test of 10 books to read, specifically printed with the author’s name, forward, acknowledgments, cover art, publisher, basically HIPPAA standards for anything identifying removed. Then told you there were only 5 authors for the 10 books so you just had to pick the 5 that belonged to the same author, the ones that can write so creatively that anyone reading would basically be guessing and have a 50/50 chance w/ each guess are my favorites.
I suppose it all boils down to whether or not you’re creatively talented, and yes I’m calling it a talent now, I’ll call it a personality characteristic again as soon as Hollywood stops making almost all their movies from books, comic, fairytale, or cultural-based oral storytelling that doesn’t use the written word so they never win lawsuits when their stories, histories, and cultural practices are stolen from them and put on screens for the entertainment of millions of ppl to judge what they don’t have the first clue about actually living like, never even realize these were never written and kept oral so THIS could never happen in the first place since they couldn’t be lost or stolen (except in a plague-time if the story keepers ALL died before they could finish passing them on which is why they generally have multiple keepers and no one is supposed to know who they are other than the (usually) oldest for the public face even among their own) and the rest of the movies from re-makes, action that doesn’t require real writing as no one’s really talking and there’s no real story, just punching, shooting, and booming for whatever superficial reason given, & franchise opportunities (video games, movie blank #2, 3, 4, movie blank: prequel or movie blank: this happened too either during or because of movie blank, like they’ve been doing at least since they made the LOTR movies and said to themselves “there’s gold in them thar hills”. But instead of the California Gold Rush, we got “The Age of Pre-existing Movies” or as I call it, “You Seriously Can’t Come Up With Your Own Ideas Anymore? Really? Then Just Hire The Freaking Writers and Lose The Millions of Hopeful Screenwriter Jobs If They Really Can’t Do It. If They Can, Stop Stealing EVERYTHING So I Can See Something I Didn’t Read That Actually Has Dialogue, Not Just A Series Of Fight Scenes and Explosions)
